Maltese and Chinese traditions will come together on Saturday in a celebration of the friendship between the two countries.
Organised by the China Cultural Centre in commemoration of the Dragon Boat Festival, the event will take place at the waters next to the Birgu Regatta Club from 10am onwards.
The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as the Duanwu Festival, the event will see four mixed teams made up of Maltese and Chinese participants competing in a friendly dragon boat race.
Visitors can also enjoy traditional Chinese Lion Dance and drum performances during the event.
The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, is one of China’s most cherished traditional festivals, with a history spanning over 2,000 years. Dragon boat racing is a key part of the festival.
Of course, Malta has its own traditional regatta boat rowing races – and this event fuses the two traditions into a celebration of intercultural friendship.
