Malta conquers the Small Nations Games bringing home a grand total of 27 medals
They absolutely slayed!

The 18th edition of the Games of the Small States of Europe came to a close this weekend and Malta absolutely conquered the games, bringing home a whopping 27 medals in various sporting disciplines. A total of 6 gold, 12 silver and 9 bronze medals were won by the Maltese delegation. But who are the hardworking athletes?

Athletics

1. Lisa Marie Bezzina won gold in both the 5,000m and 10,000m race.

2. Jordan Gusman also won gold in the men’s category for both the 5,000m and 10,0000m race.

3. Jordan Gusman also took home a silver medal for the 1,500m race.

4. Ian Paul Grech won a silver medal for the triple jump and a bronze medal for the long jump.

5. Claire Azzopardi took home a silver medal for the triple jump in the women’s category.

6. Paula Grech won bronze in the 800m race.

7. Damien Mizzi took home the bronze in the 400m sprint.

Swimming

1. Harry Stacy won silver in the 100m race.

2. The men’s team won silver in both the 4x100m and the 4x200m freestyle race.

3. Alexandra McGonigle took home the silver in the 50m breaststroke swim.

4. Andrew Chetcuti also won silver for his 50m butterfly swim.

5. Mikhail Umnov won bronze for both the 200m butterfly and the 100m butterfly.

6. Mya Azzopardi won bronze for the 200m medley swim.

7. The women’s team won bronze for both the 4x100m and the 4x200m freestyle.

Judo

Jeremy Saywell was the only judo athlete who took home a medal. Saywell won silver in the 66kg individuals category.

1. Eleanor Bezzina won gold in the 10m air pistol.

2. Gianluca Chetcuti took home the gold for the double trap event.

3. William Chetcuti won silver for both the trap and double trap events.
