It’s official! Records show that July 2020 was hotter than average on the Maltese Islands
The air temperature peaked at 36°C on the last day of the month.

Following a cooler-than-average June, July ushered in warmer weather on the Maltese Islands, with air temperatures coming in higher than expected at this time of year.

A total of 18 days throughout the month of July registered maximum air temperatures that surpassed the climate norm of 31.6°C, and on the last day, the temperature peaked at a sizzling 36°C! 

At 25.7°C, the mean sea temperature was also 1°C warmer than expected.

Meanwhile, July was also generally calm, maintaining a mean wind speed of 6.8 knots, which is pretty much in line with the climate norm.
