It’s International Charity Day! Here are eight Maltese organisations doing good for the community
Did you know it's the International Day of Charity? Well if you didn't, now you do, and in honour of this special day, we’re taking a look at some our favourite local charities that are doing some real good for the Maltese community.
1. Hospice Malta
Hospice Malta provides and promotes palliative care for patients suffering from terminal illness and motor neuron disease. These guys offer their services free of charge to patients around the islands and so, are constantly looking for support through donations to keep doing what they’re doing.
2. Jays of Sunshine
Jays of Sunshine was set up by two locals, Angie and Maxine, who lost their inspirational mothers. They found the courage to create this organisation to help make sick youngsters’ dreams come true.
3. Inspire Malta
Inspire Malta is a local NGO that provides a range of holistic services and programmes within the disabled community, for both children and adults. These include education therapy and independent living services for anyone with intellectual and/or physical disabilities.
4. Dr Klown
This local voluntary organisation's mission is “boosting your health with a smile.” The fantastic team of Klown doctors provides hospitalised children some distraction and stress relief through fun, laughter, and those notable red noses!
5. Puttinu Cares
Everyone has heard of Puttinu Cares and the incredible team behind the organisation. Puttinu supports children and adults suffering from cancer by raising funds through sponsorships, donations, and fundraising activities.
6. Noah’s Ark Malta
Even our furry friends need help! Noah’s Ark Malta is dedicated to supporting the stray dogs rescued from the streets of Malta whilst helping them find their forever home.
7. ALS Malta
Since 2015, ALS Malta has been raising awareness about the disease on our islands. They’re also constantly raising funds for people living with ALS whilst helping to give patients the best care possible.
8. Richmond Foundation
This not-for-profit organisation is all about helping people living with mental health conditions. Since its launch in the 1980s, Richmond Foundation has also been working tirelessly to stamp out the stigma surrounding mental health whilst also promoting mental wellbeing.
