It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Valletta’s Fairyland and Rabat’s Natalis Notabilis open today
Let the festive season begin!

Malta officially steps into the festive season today as two of the island’s most beloved Christmas attractions – Fairyland in Valletta and Natalis Notabilis in Rabat – open their doors to the public. Families, locals, and visitors alike can now immerse themselves in the magic, lights, aromas (think mulled wine and Maltese coffee!), and traditions are core to the Maltese Christmas experience.

Valletta’s Pjazza Tritoni has once again transformed into Fairyland, a sparkling Christmas village filled with charm and holiday cheer. The iconic Ferris wheel, towering over the Grand Harbour skyline, makes its annual comeback, offering breathtaking views of the capital for those who are ready to face their fear of heights! The experience will be open for all to enjoy till 4th January, so you can get your fill for an entire month.

Meanwhile, Rabat’s historic streets take on a special charm as Natalis Notabilis opens its doors. Considered one of Malta’s most atmospheric Christmas villages, the event winds through narrow streets (‘sqaq’ in Maltese) and historic courtyards, filling them with twinkling lights, traditional food, and the unmistakable (and often irresistible) scent of mulled wine.

This year’s edition includes live music, nativity displays, and an expanded market area featuring local artisans. Unlike Fairyland, Natalis Notabilis is only open till Sunday 14th December though, so make sure you get your fill of the atmosphere, mince pies & mulled wine before it’s too late!

As the lights switch on and carols begin to echo through the streets, one thing is clear: Christmas in Malta is well and truly here!

Which of these classic Christmas hotspots will you be stopping at first?

5th December 2025
