A fried egg jellyfish was spotted yesterday on the Maltese Islands, this time in Ghar Lapsi, and we’re a little shook (and kinda intimidated).

On a Maltese animal lovers group, a local swimmer posted a photo of this (apparently) friendly jelly spotted at Ghar Lapsi. She said she “couldn’t wait to get out of the water and grab my camera to take a photo,” but wasn’t quick enough, seeing a kid smashing it on the rocks just seconds later. Oops.

The friendly jelly also made an appearance earlier this summer in Gozo’s Marsalforn, and locals who spotted it immediately alerted beach-goers that it’s totally harmless. Hard to believe a funny little thing like this is harmless, but the phacellophora camtschatica totally is! So, the next time you spot one, ask it for a quick selfie… we’re sure it won’t mind!
