The Prime Minister's family are now a family of four after Dr Lydia Abela and daughter Giorgia Mae adopted a new member.

Dr Abela revealed the day's events in a Facebook post: "We came to Gozo so we could inaugurate Gozo's first Eco-Friendly Feeding Machines for stray animals alongside Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri, and we're returning back home with a new family member in the Abela household," she wrote.

Accompanied by a picture of herself also featuring a smiley Giorgia Mae and the young pup, Dr Abela continued by revealing his name: "Say hi to Buttons," she wrote.

Could the name be an ode to iconic family dog Buttons from popular TV series Simpatici?

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
