Today is International Women’s Day, a day of celebration dedicated to the achievements of women in social, economic, cultural and political fields. Although we don’t need to rely on any pre-planned day to express positive energy to the women that make a difference in our lives, here’s GuideMeMalta’s small token of gratitude to eight highly inspirational ladies that turn our frown upside down on the daily.
Tamara Webb – Influencer
Positive, outgoing and hilarious, leading influencer Tamara Webb needs very little introduction: she’s a health and well-being advocate as well as the CEO of her freshly launched brand The Balance Queen, and has recently added one more achievement to her list. Tamara confirmed last month that she’s expecting her first child with husband Ken, due this summer. Congratulations girl! p>
Lorinda Mamo – Cancer survivor & mum to PBS survivor with CKD
A cancer survivor and dedicated mother to Henry, Lorinda is an indomitable force of nature. Positive, determined and level-headed, she has recently transitioned to YouTube to share her craft ideas with the world. One thing that’s more impressive than her creativity is her drive to overcome any obstacle that comes her way. Respect!
Sefora Tabone – Mum & autism activist
Another Maltese super mum, Sefora uses social media to raise autism awareness. Not only does she share inspirational posts and informative videos regarding the condition, she also lets the public into her personal motherhood journey with son Diego, who suffers from autism. What a queen!
Karly May – LGBT activist
A leading LGBT activist, Karly hit headlines (and made history) last year for being the first Maltese trans model to land the front cover of a local publication. Since coming out publicly two years ago, Karly has worked hard to raise awareness and defend the community rights while living out her true self. Rock on!
Moira Delia – Animal rights activist
One of Malta’s most famous TV presenters, Moira Delia is also a leading animal rights activist. An animal lover through and through, the presenter uses her TV show Animal Diaries to share information and educate the public about a vast number of matters pertaining to responsible animal care and welfare. Lead on!
Jays of Sunshine girls – NGO
Founded by Maxine Aquilina and Angie Amato, these two young women turned the tragedy of losing their respective mothers to cancer into the ultimate act of kindness and generosity. Through their NGO Jays of Sunshine, Maxine and Angie help dreams come for children and young people undergoing treatment in the Rainbow Ward at Mater Dei Hospital. What an awesome duo!
Yazmin Zammit Stevens – Weightlifter
One of Malta’s top athletes, Yazmin is currently working hard towards qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She edged a step closer to achieving her dream by taking home the bronze at the Malta International Open last weekend, gaining crucial points that in combination with other events, could see her become the first Maltese female weightlifter to qualify for the Olympics. You got this Yaz!
Thank you for being such an inspiration!
