The fashion guru gives us his holiday run-down.
The fifth in our series of Christmas countdowns is local fashion designer Marco Parascandalo. Hailing from Malta’s magnificent city of Birgu, the creative director of PARASCANDALO fashion brand skyrocketed to fame after debuting his collection SKANDLU, first shown at Malta Fashion Week in 2014. Marco is known for his chic, unique take on streetwear, paying particular attention to wearability and durability.
For Marco, Christmas is...
".. the day where nothing but family comes first. It’s a day of reflecting and appreciating the good we have surrounding us,” he says. And we totally agree! Christmas time is about being with our loved ones and appreciating all that has happened throughout the past year.
And this year...
“I will probably be spending this Christmas Eve with close friends, celebrating by drinking wine and champagne and nibbling on finger food at home.” Sounds fantastic (and yummy!). As for Christmas Day, “the whole family is invited over to my sister’s house for lunch. That means food, food, and more food!” Can we get an invite, too?
Marco's Christmas traditions
Eating lots (and lots) of food is definitely a big one in Marco’s family, as well as exchanging gifts. “My favourite part of the day has to be Christmas day in the evening when all my uncles, aunties and cousins meet at our grandpa’s house for mulled wine, whiskey and Christmas carol singalongs!” Marco says that the most memorable Christmas present he has ever received was a gift he gifted himself last year, which was moving into his new apartment! Now that’s an unforgettable gift!
What about New Year’s Eve plans?
“I’ll probably be spending it in Gozo with my boyfriend.” Marco also reveals that he’s not one to make any New Year’s Resolutions. “In the past years I never kept them up, so I’ve totally given up on making any from now on!”
Finally, his big plans for 2019? “I want to continue working on developing my fashion brand PARASCANDALO and will hopefully expand it overseas.” Dream big and achieve!
