Green all the way! Check out Malta’s first carbon neutral park in Kalkara
Rinella Park is powered on solar energy.

A fully carbon neutral park has finally opened up to the public in Kalkara this week.

Rinella Garden, as it’s called, was originally a military cemetery that has now been transformed as the perfect place for a bit of peace and quiet for all the family to enjoy.

The park operates solely through solar and sustainable power. This means that any type of electrical system operating within the park, including the irrigation system, uses solar energy.

All the water that will be used for irrigation is sustainably collected solely through rain to avoid any extra and unnecessary emissions. In fact, a total of four reservoirs were restored for this purpose.

This new, modern and sustainable garden also has smart benches where one can charge their devices together with smart bins that all operate on solar energy.

They even installed a fresh drinking water fountain that is free to all.

Rinella garden will be open from 7:30am to 9:30pm during the summer months and 7:30am to 8:30pm during the winter months.

Do you plan on going?
