Local wedding photographer Franklin Balzan has earned international recognition after being ranked 12th in the world on the PROWED World Top 100 Wedding Photographers 2025 list – a major achievement!

PROWED is a respected international association dedicated to showcasing the finest wedding photographers from around the world, celebrating outstanding storytelling, creativity and technical excellence through photography.

Sharing the news on social media, Franklin described what the recognition means to him: ‘To stand among such insanely talented photographers from across the globe – this is surreal!’

He also reflected on the journey behind the achievement: ‘What a journey it’s been – from late nights editing to chasing golden light at every wedding. This recognition reflects every couple who trusted me with their story, every tear shed behind the lens, and every moment that made my heart skip a beat.’

To mark the milestone, Franklin also shared nine award-winning images that received Photo of the Year recognition, capturing intimate, emotional and joyful moments between newly married couples – one of which even features a traditional Maltese bus!
