The Department of Malta's Facebook page drew attention to the almond tree, noting its gradual transition to a vibrant yellow hue.

This ancient tree has been a fixture in the Maltese landscape since antiquity, originally introduced from its native Middle East to flourish across the Mediterranean. Despite facing environmental challenges, the almond tree thrives, symbolising resilience and adaptation.

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the almond tree serves a crucial ecological role as one of the first trees to bloom each year.

Its blossoms not only beautify the land but also provide sustenance for pollinating bees, vital for agriculture and biodiversity. Furthermore, the tree's fruit holds cultural significance and practical value, contributing to local cuisine and economy.

Have you caught sight of the almond tree in all of its glory yet?
