The European Week for Waste Reduction is right around the corner, and the small locality of Ghasri on Malta’s sister isle is gearing up to do all they can to participate.
What is European Week for Waste Reduction?
The European Week for Waste Reduction will be held between 16th and 23rd November, and is an initiative that aims to promote awareness and implementing actions related to sustainable resources and waste management.
Ghasri’s participation
The little Gozitan town will be participating with a campaign called ‘Reduce & Reuse’ and is calling upon locals to bring over used clothing, shoes and bags (that are obviously still in good condition) to the parish hall on Saturday 23rd November between 9am and 4pm. These items will be sorted, repaired if needed and sent to countries in need instead of being thrown away. Now that’s a great initiative!
As a continued effort to making the island greener, the Wasteserv Malta Sort It Out Kerbside Truck will be heading round to the town every third Tuesday of the month and will be available between 9.30am and 1.30pm right near the Ghasri square, for you to dispose of your items correctly. The truck will be accepting cooking oil, light bulbs, polystyrene (gablo), textiles, paper, cardboard, metal, glass and plastic. The truck will be in Ghasri next on Tuesday 19th November.
Go on, get involved!
