There’s more heat heading our way! After a sweltering July that has been 1.5°C warmer than usual, August is expected to follow suit, predicted to be the hottest month of 2019, according to Maltese Islands Weather.
“The maximum temperature this month was reached on the 9th when it soared to a sweltering 38.3°C,” the local weather site reports. “That was more than 7°C hotter than the mean for that time of year. With a low of 26°C, the following night was the warmest this month.”
And it’s not the first time this has happened. “July 2019 is following the same pattern as July 2012 and July 2017, two years with very hot summers,” they said. “Just as in 2012 and 2017, August 2019 will also be hotter than average.” Jesus, take the wheel!
And anticyclones are the culprits! These formations will draw in very hot air from northern Africa towards the Med. “This will mean consistent above-average temperatures with heat spells being very likely.” At this point, we’re pros at handling heat spells! “The average temperature in August generally stands at 27.1°C and is normally the hottest month of the year.” And according to Maltese Islands Weather, this year will be no different.
“The latest map projections suggest that August 2019 will be around 1.5°C warmer than usual, making it the hottest month of 2019.” However, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be sunshine throughout. “The same map projections still indicate the possibility of an early autumn, with some showers and thunderstorms possibly affecting us towards the end of the month.”
Brace yourselves folks!
