Many have taken to social media to pay their respects to Justin Tabone – a 22-year-old who passed away suddenly on Monday 10th October.

Justin was playing football at the St Aloysius College Sports Complex in Birkirkara when he suddenly collapsed.

Times of Malta reported that the young man suffered ‘a suspected heart attack’.

Justin received CPR for around 15 minutes, however the first aiders on site could not find a defibrillator. It later became known that two defibrillators were available at the St Aloysius School, situated right next to the sports complex.

“To my brother that was the key to everything. The one that never complained. Always there to help anyone, with a heart of gold. The uncle of my son that was always by Zane’s side. You were the man of the family, always ready to step in and take care of things,” Justin’s sister, Amanda, wrote.

“We lost an angel with white wings as bright as you could always be. I am going to miss you so very much. My brother, who I always imaged seeing settled, always giving me the right roads to move towards, always loving me no matter how many ups and downs we had. You always stayed by my side,” she added.

Claire Harmsworth, a former colleague of Justin’s, followed with her own tribute soon after.

“May God grant you eternal rest, Justin Tabone. Rest in peace and pray for us, my dear friend,” she wrote.

Rest in peace, Justin!
