The arrival of Wizz Air Malta’s first aircraft at the Malta International Airport was celebrated with a water cannon salute.
Wizz Air Malta is set to commence its operations on the islands tomorrow, 27th September, four months after it was first announced.
This airline is a subsidiary of Wizz Air – a Hungarian ultra-low-cost carrier. In turn, Wizz Air Malta will conduct most of its business practices in Malta whilst functioning throughout all of Europe.
The airline announced that it will be launching tomorrow after it was granted an Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and Operating License (OL) by the Malta Civil Aviation Directorate (CAD).

Wizz Air Malta’s first flight will be taking off tomorrow from Rome Fiumicino Airport.
“We are expecting this airline to register a substantial amount of aircraft in our country, further increasing the number of our already strong 9H fleet,” Transport Minister Aaron Farrugia said.
“Malta will continue to support investors who choose Malta as their jurisdiction for the benefit of this very important industry, and ultimately for the strength of our economy,” he continued.

The arrival of the first Wizz Air Malta aircraft at the Malta International Airport (MIA) was celebrated with a water cannon salute.
“These new developments in the aviation industry, such as this new airline, are expected to have a significant impact on our economy and generate further jobs,” the Transport Minister added.
“It will also lead to further opportunities and initiatives,” he concluded.
