Colette Sultana travelled to Australia to compete in the PSA Northern Territory 2025 Open
Maltese squash star Colette Sultana has achieved a major career milestone by winning her first Professional Squash Association (PSA) 3K title at the Northern Territory Open in Darwin, Australia.
The tournament, part of the PSA Squash Tour, is a key event that showcases elite international talent and forms part of the global push to promote professional squash for both men and women. Colette’s victory in the women’s singles category showcases her growing presence on the world stage.
Currently Malta’s national squash champion, Colette travelled to Australia to compete in the PSA Northern Territory 2025 Open, held from 8th to 11th May.
Despite facing personal challenges in the lead-up to the tournament, including recovering from injury and illness, she demonstrated resilience and determination throughout the event.
Colette's path to the final was marked by commanding wins. She first defeated Australia’s Tansyn Noble in straight sets (11-7, 11-2, 11-3) during the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, she continued her strong form with another straight-game victory over South Korea’s Ye Won Jang (11-4, 11-7, 11-5).
The final saw her face off against another South Korean player, Chaewon Song, in a nail-biting five-game battle. After trading sets and surviving multiple match points, Colette emerged victorious with a 6-11, 11-9, 11-5, 8-11, 15-13 scoreline - sealing her first PSA 3K title in dramatic fashion.
This win not only adds an international trophy to her name but also marks a significant step forward in her professional squash journey.
