This is also shown through the impressive track record of international competitions won, including the ‘Malta International Fireworks Festival’ in 2006 and the ‘Caput Lucis World Championships’ in Rome in 2007, amongst others.

'Fireworks Spectacular', this year's show on the night of the 14th August, will include over 12,000 shots and is divided into six different parts. The exciting show will be the result of the work of the volunteers of the Santa Marija Society and King George V Band Club.

The first part, titled 'The Tower of Rock,' is based on the 'Tower of Light,' a 60-meter-high steel structure from which thousands of mortars and synchronized effects inspired by Rock-style songs are launched.

Maltese Traditional Fireworks’, the second part of the show includes various shapes and colours that contribute a Maltese touch to this evening.

The Imqabba show continues with the third part entitled 'Pyro Thunder,' a unique presentation in our country based on Beraq as the fireworks are synchronized to the music creating a melody accompanied by several innovative shapes from the Tower of Light and also from the ground.

The fourth part, titled 'Wheels of Fire,' is a display based on colourful fireworks with unique effects in the world, complimented with various shapes and effects from the ground.

Following this aerial show, the evening continues with the last section, a display of 'Mechanised Ground Fireworks' entirely produced by the volunteers of the same society. This year, Mqabba will witness an attempt, through mechanised structures aided by particular effects, to break a national record like no other.
