In today's press conference, Prof. Gauci clarified whether it is safe for hairdressers to use hair driers, as there seems to be a bit of confusion on the matter.

She noted that research on the use of hand-held hair driers is ongoing as the "evidence is so clear on the increase of risk when doing a blow dry." She said that a blow dry circulates the air around the head and face of a person, so anyone with symptoms near the hair drier might spread the virus. "The evidence isn't clear and that is why we didn't make it mandatory to not use hair driers," she says, noting it is just a recommedation. "The hairdresser has every right to decide which services to offer
