Brace for 43°C! Real feel temperatures peak this week in Malta
It’s another hot week in July!

Lyndsey Grima

The week ahead promises classic summer weather across the Maltese Islands, with sunshine dominating the forecast and temperatures climbing steadily as the days progress.

While air temperatures will already be high, the biggest story this week is the rising real feel temperature, which is expected to peak at a sweltering 43°C by Sunday, making conditions increasingly uncomfortable despite only modest changes in the actual air temperature.

Today is set to bring a little more cloud cover, with temperatures easing slightly to 32°C, although the real feel remains at 37°C, offering little relief.

The heat then intensifies from Tuesday onwards. Sunshine returns in full, with temperatures reaching 35°C and a real feel soaring to 39°C. By Wednesday, the mercury climbs to 36°C, while the real feel pushes even higher to 40°C, highlighting the increasing impact of humidity and intense solar radiation.

Thursday is expected to be a hot one too. Although the forecast high is 37°C, it will feel like a scorching 41°C, creating potentially hazardous conditions during the afternoon. Residents and visitors are encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day.

Temperatures are still climbing by Friday, remaining exceptionally hot, with temperatures around 38°C and a real feel of 42°C. Saturday’s temperatures are that of 37°C and a real feel of 41°C and the cherry on the cake this week is Sunday with temperatures at 39°C and a real feel of 43°C!

Throughout the week, sea conditions are generally slight to smooth, and the UV Index stays at an extreme 10, reinforcing the need for sun protection.

As the islands approach a 43°C real feel, taking sensible precautions against the heat will be more important than ever.

Are you loving these hot summer days?
