Straight after undergoing a complicated surgical procedure last week, it seems Bjorn Formosa may have to undertake yet another one – and chances of survival are unclear.

In a heartfelt message on Facebook dripping with both hope and futility, Bjorn shares his experience so far. “Day 6 at Mater Dei Hospital. Just couldn't sleep. Today we await the results of the final scan. We need a clean result otherwise we'll have to undergo surgery and the chances of my body surviving it would be pretty slim. Please pray for a miracle. I really need one.”

Ever since his ALS diagnosis, Bjorn has been at the forefront of a movement that has swept the island. Despite his deteriorating condition, he has incessantly pushed for awareness and even initiated projects that saw the establishment of Dar Bjorn – an establishment that caters specifically to ALS sufferers.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Bjorn and his family.

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
