Halfway through summer! Malta & Gozo to heat up again as temperatures climb to 36°C
After a week of unusually mild August weather – with highs in the upper 20s to low 30s and comfortably cool evenings – the midpoint of summer marks a sharp return to classic summer heat.
Starting this Friday 8th August, a North African high-pressure system is set to sweep across much of Europe and the Mediterranean – sending temperatures in Malta and Gozo soaring back up to the high thirties.
According to weather source ‘It-Temp Madwarna’, by Sunday 10th August, we could be seeing highs of 36°C, with nighttime temperatures rising to a sticky 26°C.
This rise in temperatures, according to Malta Weather, is expected to last over a week, including Santa Marija week – much-awaited by many who take their summer shutdown during the period. So if you’re planning your break or hitting the beach during Malta’s summer shutdown, remember:
- Stay hydrated
- Seek shade where possible
- Wear sunscreen
- And yes – it might be time to switch that fan back to high speed or turn the AC back on!
Summer’s not done with us yet – stay cool out there!
