From the streets to safety! Young pigeons Cleopatra, Tom & Jerry saved in San Ġwann & Sliema
These little ones are small and fluffy, yet full of hope!

The Malta Ranger Unit has shared a bittersweet update after rescuing three abandoned young pigeons from busy streets, saving them from almost certain danger and placing them in foster care until they are strong enough to return to the wild.

Rangers received two separate reports from members of the public about baby pigeons left without parents in high-traffic areas. Thanks to the quick response of the Rangers, and the dedication of their network of foster carers, all three birds are now safe.

Cleopatra, the youngest, was found in San Ġwann. She’ll require some extra TLC from her foster carer, but she’s already charmed everyone with her adorable ‘hairstyle’!

Tom and Jerry, slightly older than Cleopatra, were discovered dehydrated and hungry on a doorstep in Sliema. Without intervention, they wouldn’t have survived.

The Malta Ranger Unit expressed gratitude to the public for speaking up when they saw animals in distress, and to the fosterers who open their homes and hearts to help.

‘Thank you for not turning a blind eye,’ the team wrote, reminding everyone that looking out for vulnerable animals can make all the difference.

Keep a lookout for animals in need, particularly on warmer days!
