Bites and Fun at Spencer Garden in Marsa - Reducing food waste one bite at a time
On Sunday 2nd November, the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) together with the Ministry for the Environment will be hosting Malta’s first-ever zero-food waste festival - called Bites and Fun - at Spencer Garden, Marsa, from 2pm to 7pm, with free entry for everyone.
This new eco-friendly initiative aims to educate and inspire the public on how to reduce food waste in everyday life, all while enjoying a fun-filled afternoon for the whole family, including live entertainment provided by the artists Krista Šujak, Thea Aquilina, Hayley Azzopardi and Kevin Paul Calleja.

From turning stale bread into crunchy croutons and veggie scraps into flavourful stock, to giving your plants a boost with used coffee grounds, the festival will showcase plenty of clever ways to make the most of every ingredient.
Visitors can look forward to a variety of engaging stands from participating entities, including the Institute of Tourism Studies (ITS), where chefs will demonstrate how to prepare zero-waste fruit smoothies and how to transform fruit peels into compost.
The festival will also feature interactive workshops, live music, art sessions (including a sip & paint activity!), and games for children, making it both an educational and entertaining event. In addition, a food bank will be set up on-site to encourage donations in support of the local community.

To promote sustainability further, the Water Services Corporation (WSC) will provide free water from its Water Buggy – visitors are encouraged to bring their own reusable cup.
Aside from being a learning experience, Bites and Fun promises a day of creativity, awareness, and community spirit, showing that small steps can make a big difference.
