Amazing catch! Maltese fisherman haul in a giant 26kg monkfish
It's what's on the inside that counts!

If you thought that some creatures of the deep look more like aliens that the fish you’re used to seeing, you may be right! Giuseppi’s Bar and Bistro at the Salini Resort has shared photos of an impressive 26kg monkfish caught by local fishermen.

The establishment assures their followers that while the fish may not be winning any beauty contests any time soon, ‘it’s all about what’s inside’ - the deep-sea fish is an expensive delicacy, ‘packed with delicate buttery flavours that will leave you wanting more.’

Known as ‘Petriċa’ in Maltese, two species of monkfish can be found surrounding the Maltese Islands, both of which tend to prefer sandy seabeds where they camouflage themselves half buried in the sediment awaiting their prey - creepy!

Have you ever tasted monkfish?
