After dark! Discover the magic of Malta’s nocturnal wildlife at Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra this June
When the sun sets, the wild awakens!

On Friday 6th June, step into a world that comes alive after dark with ‘Il-Lejl’ – an enchanting night-time event at the Ħaġar Qim and Mnajdra Archaeological Park.

This unique experience invites just 30 participants to explore the fascinating life of nocturnal creatures in one of Malta’s most iconic heritage sites. The event, held in Maltese, will run from 7:30pm to 11:00pm, offering a rare glimpse into the park’s natural environment after hours.

The evening will begin with a relaxed social moment at the Visitor Centre, where guests can enjoy a coffee or a refreshing drink while getting to know fellow participants.

Next, a short presentation will shed light on the park’s garigue landscape and natural habitat, setting the stage for the evening’s exploration.

Guided by a knowledgeable curator, the group will then embark on a night walk to the Congreve Memorial, where you’ll observe and listen to the sights and sounds of the park’s nocturnal wildlife – a magical and rarely seen side of Malta’s biodiversity.

To make the most of the evening, participants are encouraged to bring a bottle of water to keep hydrated, carry a torch to watch their step and to wear comfortable walking shoes.

Places are limited, so early booking is recommended – buy your tickets online or at any Heritage Malta museum or site across the island.

Ever wondered what Ħaġar Qim sounds like at night?
