A new chapter has begun for Msida with the opening of its first-ever public square, a key milestone in the ongoing Msida Creek Project. Situated opposite the Parish Church, the square has been inaugurated ahead of the Feast of St Joseph, ensuring it is ready to host the village's traditional celebrations.
Covering around 2,200 square metres, the new civic space provides a dedicated venue for major community events, including the annual religious procession, open-air festivities, the popular Ġostra, and a range of other local activities.
Although work on the overall Msida Creek Project is still underway, residents and visitors can now make use of the new square. Future works will focus on landscaping the area with trees, shrubs, and additional green spaces to create a more attractive and welcoming environment.
Construction on the wider Infrastructure Malta project began in November 2024 and is scheduled for completion in 2027. Once finished, it will transform the area with upgraded roads, safer pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, expanded public spaces, and a greener, more accessible urban environment.
The inauguration of the square represents one of the most significant achievements of the project to date, while works on the surrounding road network and infrastructure continue in the months ahead.
