Local ALS patient-activist Bjorn Formosa’s latest fundraiser will see over 7,000 books go on sale for just €2 each – yes, you read that right.

The event, titled Kull ktieb €2 b’risq DAR Bjorn (All books at €2 in aid of DAR Bjorn) will be raising funds for the construction of a care facility for people suffering from ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), MS (multiple sclerosis), and other neurological conditions.

The facility, called ‘The Newer & Bigger DAR Bjorn’, will be located in Zebbug and will consist of eight floors fully-equipped with the latest medical technologies. It will also house a parking area, living quarters, a chapel, a shop, and a cafeteria kitchen.

New and second-hand books appertaining to a huge range of genres – from cooking books and school books, to children’s books and Maltese books – will be sold at the fundraiser.

The event will be taking place over the span of two days, 6th and 7th August 2021 from 9am to 6pm. Attendees are kindly asked to bring their own shopping bags, wear face masks, and strictly abide by COVID-19 measures at all times.

‘The Newer & Bigger DAR Bjorn’ will be the second neurological care facility which Bjorn Formosa raised funds for. The first DAR Bjorn, situated in Qormi, was opened by the ALS Malta Foundation in November 2017.
