‘Festival Mediterranju tal-Letteratura ta’ Malta’ returns this August with a new look
Next month will see poetry, prose, and powerful voices come together.
Malta’s most anticipated celebration of the written word is back! Inizjamed, the local cultural organisation that has long championed Maltese artistic expression, has officially announced the return of the ‘Festival Mediterranju tal-Letteratura ta’ Malta’, taking place from 2nd to 30th August 2025.
First launched in 2006, the Malta Mediterranean Literature Festival is the only festival of its kind on the islands, offering a unique space for writers and literary artists from Malta and across the Mediterranean to come together in creative exchange. The event shines a spotlight on collaboration, literary translation, and dialogue, making it a truly cross-cultural celebration.
One of the festival’s core highlights is the Malta LAF Literary Translation Workshop, which draws literary talent from far and wide and allows artists to explore the beauty – and challenges – of translating creative work across languages and cultures.
In true festive spirit, the event brings literature alive – leaping off the page and onto the stage, often accompanied by music, performance, or visual art.
This year promises to be extra special, with a fresh new look and feel teased by Inizjamed in their recent announcement on social media. Stay tuned as the full programme and guest line-up will be revealed closer to the date!
