What they say about Maltese generosity is totally true! Locals and other backers have managed to raise the hefty sum needed for the Pitt family's son’s upcoming medical procedures in the US this summer, also helping to raise awareness about Luke’s condition - neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1).

Just six days ago, Luke’s parents, Audrey and John Pitt, posted a heartfelt plea featuring their son’s story, explaining what it entails and that they need a (hefty) amount of money to fund his next two operations.

Up until 24th June, people had already raised €26,384, just four days after the family posted about their situation. And as of yesterday, all €67,000 needed for their little champ’s two surgeries in July and August in the States have been raised... and in just under a week no less!
The family took to their Facebook page, A Better Life for Luke to thank everyone who contributed to their cause. “We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who has helped and supported our cause in any way. We are so happy that we found the courage to share our beautiful story and thank you for empowering us to reach out for your kind help. We are beyond overwhelmed with the love and support.”

If the amount collected exceeds €67,000, the family has stated that the excess will be transferred to another voluntary organisation to help others in need.
