Yas! This undeveloped area in Birzebbuga will be transformed into an 8,000-tree park
One step for Malta, one giant leap for the environment!

We've got some good news for our environment! A massive afforestation project will see an undeveloped area in Benghajsa in Birzebbuga transformed into a green park, which will be home to a whopping 8,000 trees. The area was previously earmarked for a Freeport extension, but thankfully, those plans have been put aside.

The afforestation project will cost around €400,000 and will be used for picnics, camping and tourism purposes. Yay! A different spot to head to for some chill time!

The project will be split into three phases:

    1. The afforestation itself
    2. The creation of a camping site
    3. The conversion of an underground bunker in the area into a tourist attraction

The area will obviously boast spectacular views of the deep blue and will allow its visitors to be one with nature in peaceful surroundings. Sounds like the perfect weekend stop over!
