YAS! Birgu youth club vows to remove single-use plastic balloons from the festa march

The feast of St Dominic in Birgu is on this weekend, and will definitely be one heck of a celebration! But as locals are becoming more conscious of the environment, and several festas across the island incorporate more eco-friendly measures into festivities, the youths at Birgu's youth club have also vowed to do their part for the environment.

In a recent Facebook post, L-Ghaqda Zghazagh Dumnikani l-Birgu announced that from now on and including this year’s feast, “no single-use plastic balloons will be part of the celebrataions during the feast march. Instead, a set of reusable banners and flags made of material will be displayed.” YAS!

The youth club thanked the members and everyone involved in the feast activites. “With this initiative we will be giving our little contribution but with a hearty message towards saving the environment.”

The feast in Birgu is happening this weekend and is definitely one to attend, with everything wrapping up on Sunday 25th August.
