A Gozitan family’s undying love for the village feast has finally paid off…

Earlier this week, the Rapa family from Xewkija broke a national record after decorating their house’s façade with a whopping 1,558 light bulbs.

This was done to mark the feast of St John the Baptist, set to be celebrated in Xewkija this coming Sunday 26th June.

“The record was achieved by Xewkija’s very own Rapa family. After the façade was judged, the honour was bestowed upon Mr Mark Rapa on behalf of the family,” The Malta Records Facebook page wrote.

The village band club has been organising countless events in the run up to Sunday’s feast, ranging from marches to a foam party, although way more is expected to follow.

Another march is set to take place tonight at 9:30pm, performed by the Prekursur tax-Xewkija and San Girgor ta’ Kercem band clubs.

Of course, celebrations will reach their climax on Sunday with a number of marches, a procession, and a musical programme.

These will be accompanied by a number of religious celebrations held within Xewkija’s iconic church.

Well done!
