How cool is this?! Over the weekend, an astronomy night organised at Gozo's Dwejra had space enthusiasts mesmerised at the sight of such incredible views.

Organised by the Institute of Space Sciences and Astronomy at the University of Malta in collaboration with The Astronomical Society of Malta, the event was a hit, and it’s not hard to see why!

The Milky Way was the main attraction of the night, and was definitely a sight to behold! Enthusiasts and experts gathered round telescopes and other machinery which helped show this cool galaxy in all its glory. Some amazing stuff right there!

“We observed Jupiter, Saturn, various clusters and nebulae, and even obtained live images of galaxies beyond our own!” the Institute wrote on their Facebook page. “The response for this event was overwhelming,” they said, stating they hope to hold another event of the sort soon!

The Dwejra area has recently been in the news after a restaurant proposal near the UNESCO World Heritage Site risks damaging the historical area. Various environmental conservation groups and authorities opposed the proposed project due to the site’s light sensitivity and the fact that it is a Dark Sky Heritage Area.
