How cool is this? A local shared a photo of quite the ancient remnant: a coin belonging to the Ottoman Empire. The local shared that it was found in a field about four years ago and while cleaning out some things at home, he found it again.

“At first I thought it dated back to the Arab period because it looks like an oriental coin but according to some research it seems to belong to the Ottoman Empire,” the local shared in a popular history group on Facebook.

He then appealed for other enthusiasts to help him figure out what the markings mean. One Facebook user noted that they are possibly seals of the Emperor of that time. Another person confirmed this, saying that one of the markings is actually the symbol of Suleiman, the Emperor who ordered the siege on Malta.
