What the HAIL?! One year ago, Malta became a one-night Winter Wonderland
Do you remember this?

Jillian Mallia

This time last year, Malta experienced quite the unusual storm that brought about lots of hail around the islands, making them a Winter Wonderland. For one night, at least.

Last year, It-Temp Madwarna shared some insane shots taken by locals of various spots around the islands of hail covering Maltese streets.

“Early in the morning before sunrise on Saturday 16th February, some localities, particularly in the south of Malta, were hit with rain showers and hail," they said in a post last year. “As predicted, this bad weather hit regions in the east and south of Malta, with Gozo experiencing just light precipitation.”

The photos, taken in the limits of Qrendi, Qrendi centre, Tarxien and Luqa, were quite the sight. Some locals even braved the storm and went out to build hail-men (because while we’d love snow on the Maltese Islands, it ain’t technically that).
