What a sight! Photographers across Malta capture last night's stunning Harvest Moon
Last night's sky was truly something to behold.

Francesca Vella

If you looked up at the sky last night, you probably noticed the Moon shining brighter and larger than usual. That’s because Malta was treated to its first supermoon of the year, more specifically, the Harvest Moon.

The Harvest Moon is the full Moon that rises closest to the autumn equinox – a celestial event long associated with the gathering of crops. It’s called a supermoon because it appears when the Moon is at its closest point to Earth, making it look unusually big and radiant.

As it bathed Malta’s skyline in a soft golden glow, photographers across the islands took to rooftops, coastlines, and countryside fields to capture the moment. From Valletta’s bastions to Mdina’s silhouette and Gozo’s quiet hills, their photos reveal just how magical our islands can look under a glowing autumn moon.

Here’s a selection of some of the most breathtaking shots shared by local photographers, each one a reminder of the beauty that surrounds us when we simply look up!
