This month will bring the Malta Fish Fest back to the fishing village of Marsaxlokk, bringing together local fishermen and establishments and giving them the opportunity to showcase their local products. This year, however, will see the popular festival extended over two days, including the northern village of Mellieħa in the celebrations too!
Friday 19th September will see crowds gather in the main square of Mellieħa, while on Saturday 20th, festivalgoers are encouraged to gather at the Fishermen’s Wharf in Marsaxlokk. The event will begin at 6 PM on both evenings.
The festival will provide an informative aspect, with several exhibitions on seafood, fishing equipment and other related topics presented by, among others, the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Malta.
The festival promises entertainment for all ages, featuring a dedicated kids’ zone to keep children engaged and happy. The musical lineup will offer a variety of traditional and modern sounds, including performances by ‘ghana’ singers and other local performers.
Celebrating Malta’s fishing tradition, which is deeply rooted in our history and culture, this event offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in this important aspect of Maltese heritage, while supporting local fishermen and their trade.
