The name Yazmin Zammit Stevens has got to ring some bells. Yazmin is a Maltese weightlifter who has competed and totally slayed various competitions locally and internationally. And after a few months in physical rehab she’s back and conquering the IWF World Championships in Thailand.
“Against all odds, after months of rehab and a rollercoaster of emotions… I managed to get myself on the World Stage,” she says in a post to her socials, captioning a pic by famed Instagram account All Things Gym. “85/105/190 for an all-time personal best total in the 71kg class weighing in at 69kg,” she says, also finishing in 5th place in her group category.
She also thanked her followers, family, friends, coaches, physiotherapists and the like for their constant support. “To all of you who have followed, supported, messaged and watched me break down and come back up… I genuinely have so much love for you. I promise the best is yet to come!”
