Well done! Maltese athlete Luke Micallef comes in second at the Balkan Half Marathon Championships

Luke Micallef, one of Malta’s most talented runners has just achieved incredible success at the Balkan Half Marathon Championships held in Niksic Montenegro.

He finished in second place and was awarded the silver medal! 

Luke completed the impressive half-marathon in one hour, 10 minutes and 41 seconds. The course was quite a difficult one as it had an altitude of more that 650 metres.

It was the first time a Maltese athlete achieved a medal at such a high level of competition.

David Nikolli, an Albanian athlete took first place while Bahattin Uney from Turkey came in third.

Luke was not the only Maltese runner who achieved impressive results. Liza Bezzina came in fourth in the women’s race and was first in the over 40 category. She finished the race in one hour, 31 minutes and 17 seconds.
