Dillon Cassar made an outstanding impression on his marathon debut in Rotterdam, clocking an impressive 2:17:49. The performance ranks him as the second-fastest Maltese marathon runner ever, as well as the second-fastest debutant, while earning him 29th place in a strong international field despite challenging windy conditions.

His transition to the marathon distance followed months of intense preparation, discipline, and determination. Under the guidance of his father and coach, Dillon Cassar committed to demanding training sessions and overcame physical and mental fatigue to deliver a result that surpassed expectations.

Running for Zurrieq Wolves Athletic Club, the achievement held special personal significance. The Maltese athlete expressed gratitude for the constant support of his family, friends, and girlfriend, while also drawing motivation from performing for his young child.

The run also secured a new club record, further highlighting his rise in Malta’s endurance running scene.

With recovery now in focus, Dillon Cassar is already looking ahead, determined to build on this breakthrough performance.

Well done, Dillon!
