A strong wind warning has been issued for the Maltese Islands, with conditions expected to deteriorate from Thursday, March 26th.

According to Temp Madwarna, a West-Northwest wind (Majjistru) will gradually strengthen throughout the day, becoming particularly intense during the night and into early Friday morning.

Wind speeds are forecast to reach Force 7 overnight, with powerful gusts possibly hitting Force 8. These conditions may create hazardous situations, especially in coastal areas exposed to northwesterly winds. By Friday evening, the wind is expected to ease slightly to Force 5, offering some relief.

However, the situation will remain unsettled, as winds are predicted to pick up again on Saturday, March 28, reaching Force 6 from the northwest. Authorities are urging the public to take necessary precautions during this period.

Residents are advised to avoid coastal zones where waves may become dangerous, refrain from parking vehicles under large trees, and secure any loose outdoor items to prevent damage. Additionally, fast ferry and catamaran services are likely to face temporary suspension due to rough sea conditions.

This weather warning remains in effect from Thursday afternoon through Saturday evening, and the public is encouraged to stay informed and share this information with others.

The Gozo Highspeed also issued an announcement for Thursday 26th March. The last trip from Valletta will be at 17:45 and last trip from Mġarr will be at 18:45. All scheduled trips for tomorrow Friday 27th March will be suspended until further notice.

Will the wind be disturbing your plans this weekend?
