We’re bringing it back! 7 toys every Maltese kid had way back when
Cue the nostalgia!

Have you ever rummaged through your storage space looking for one thing, only to come across a box of old stuff from your youth that distracts you for the next hour or so? Yup. Been there, done that. Here is a handful of toys every Maltese kid had in their childhood.

1. Action Man

Every Maltese boy had one, or one that belonged to their dads even! Action Man was a popular toy back in the day, even more so when the modern version was released. That’s all boys could talk about!

2. My Little Pony

Obvs. I mean, is there even another toy as WORTHY as My Little Pony? This horsey was definitely a top contender among Maltese school kids back in the day.

3. Monchichi

These so-called teddy bears or monkeys were popular back in the day, but also freaked out a good 90 per cent of kids. My grandmother had two in my uncle’s and dad’s bedroom, and whenever I’d walk in to grab a Disney movie (yas) or one of her books, this thing would stare at me creepily from the shelf.

4. Rubiks Cube

A classic gadget! Only the smart kids would even attempt to get this one right. The rest of us would stare blankly and shift around the cubes in the hopes of looking smart. Then there were those kids who’d purposely mess one up by switching the stickers around. #NotCool

5. Slinky

Slinky was one of the best forms of entertainment. Watching this walking spring toy wobble its way through the corridor was always a blast.

6. Trolls

The toys with the wacky hairstyles were just weird. Trolls were (and still are) a collector’s item. We’d even trade a few to have a range of hair colours on our bedroom shelves.

7. Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots

Another classic toy of our childhoods was the Rock Em Sock Em Robot, which provided an easy way of letting off some steam. It was fun…until one of the robots' heads popped off and flew into your eye. Ouch.
