Way to GoTo! Eco-friendly car sharing rolls out cool new roundtrip service available 24/7
One small step for Malta, one giant leap for the environment!

Jillian Mallia

GoTo, the island’s first national car sharing solution, has just introduced a roundtrip service to give its users the convenience of having a car available round the clock. Now that’s a cool initiative!

This option gives the subscribers the choice to use GoTo just like they would a personal car for meetings, shopping, going out, you name it... It also gives the drivers the facility of securing a vehicle three months in advance and keeping it for longer, unlike the original (albeit popular!) one-way service that can only be booked 15 minutes in advance.

A huge success

The €8 million initiative was introduced in Malta last November, and has already exceeded expectations. To date, close to 6,500 drivers have registered to use GoTo’s fleet of electric cars, with an average of 600 trips being recorded per day. #YAS! That means more travellers are opting for eco-friendly ways of commuting.

The new service

This new roundtrip service uses hybrid Toyotas and once the prepaid time is over, all you have to do is drop off the car at the same spot you picked it up from. A total of 30 cars will be made available from 10 localities across the islands starting this week, and can only be accessed from private parking areas.

A new app incorporating both the roundtrip service (A2A) and the one-way service (A2B) has also been launched. Android users can download the app here, and iPhone users can download it from the App Store here.
