‘Foundation’ is slated for a 24th September release.
It isn’t every day that we get to see Malta on the big screen…
And chances are, you won’t even recognise our island in this new Apple TV+ series – even though it serves as the backdrop for quite a few scenes!
‘Foundation’, based on Isaac Asimov’s book series of the same name, saw a significant portion of its production take place in Malta, or more specifically at the Malta Film Studios, throughout February 2021.

Not only did this project employ hundreds of locals during its stint in Malta, but it also introduced a couple of big names – like Guardian of the Galaxy’s (2014) Lee Pace and Chernobyl’s (2019) Jared Harris – to our gorgeous islands.
And as the series’ release date draws nearer, Apple TV teased us with yet another trailer, this time featuring some amazing shots captured locally.
Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech seemed elated (and understandably so) to see the country feature in such project.
“This makes me so proud – Malta being featured in the most recent trailed of ‘Foundation’ Apple TV series. The water scenes were filmed at the Malta Film Studios,” he wrote on social media.
“Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, we have managed to continue to attract productions to Malta,” he continued.

Consider yourself a sci-fi lover?
Then there’s no doubt you’ll enjoy ‘Foundation’. The series narrates the story of a band of exiles who embark on a mission to save the fictional Galactic Empire.
‘Foundation’ is slated for a 24th September release, and it will be exclusively available on Apple TV+.
