What the heck? This rare phenomenon occurred over the weekend on the Maltese Islands, and honestly, it’s kinda the craziest thing we’ve seen. Last Sunday, an Arcus cloud, better known as a ‘roll cloud’, was spotted in Birzebbuga.

The rare cloud formation, which was quite the sight to behold, forms right before a cold air front passes over land, which was also related to the low pressure models that occurred over our islands last week.

Humid and warm light winds from the east condensed on south-westerly cold air with the convergence zone. The hot air rose while the cold air sank, forming this incredible cloud formation along the south and south-westerly coast of Malta. It’s safe to say that this phenomenon left everyone speechless!
