Every now and then, you come across something so unbelievable that it makes you do a double take. Well, that happened to us this morning, when an onlooker at a construction site in Ta’ Xbiex passed on this shocking video.

The clip features a construction worker dressed casually in a t-shirt, pair of shorts, and what looks to be a baseball cap – gotta protect yourself from the harsh sun, am I right? – taking a jackhammer to a roof which he himself is STANDING ON – recipe for disaster much?

The onlooker that took the video points out that the crane appears to be 'tentatively' holding the roof up 'just in case' it collapses – though as to what would happen to the worker in the event of a collapse, well, his words sum it up best: “buuuqqq.”
Malta’s construction industry has come under fire in recent months following a spate of accidents over the summer, and while we admit to being amateurs with no idea of the appropriate safety measures needed, we can’t help but feel that, judging from this clip, safety levels at local sites are still far from ideal!
