WATCH: Say what?! Malta's old buses are back on the road - but with a modern twist
Malta’s colourful buses are an iconic part of local culture and heritage and have been sorely missed over the years since they stopped operating on Maltese roads. But, we might just get these beautiful buses back in a reimagined, sleeker, more modern form. Bis-serjeta? Yup.
Back in April, London-based Mizzi Studio came up with the brilliant idea to create futuristic-looking (and yes, electric, fully air-conditioned and comfortable) transport inspired by the traditional buses. The concept took them seven years to develop and now the ball is finally rolling!
Malta’s bus is reborn and will premier on 11th October at 8pm near the Triton Fountain just outside Valletta’s City Gate. Mizzi Studio’s project is being backed by the Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects. It’s kinda making us feel all nostalgic, too. We absolutely can’t wait to see them live and in action!
