“Time and time again, Washington has proven that it’s either uninterested or incapable of addressing this problem—with real-life consequences. Nearly one in four Americans struggle to pay for medicine. Three in ten skip doses or forgo filling prescriptions because they can’t afford them. Families across the country face difficult choices: medicine or childcare for my two-year-old? Medicine or making rent on time? Medicine to treat my diabetes or to control my cholesterol?”, his manifesto reads.

This sentiment is further echoed through a video excerpt from a speech given by Mayor Pete: “We have folks choosing whether to buy prescription drugs or whether to buy groceries and the President’s focus is whether to buy Greenland – we got a problem”.

In a video montage released on twitter by Pete, many people, most of them youths, are seen raising their concerns to the charismatic mayor.

Pete’s proposed plan not only caps monthly expenses but reassures the many youths that voiced their anxieties by guaranteeing that no one living with diabetes dies from insulin rationing due to cost. It also promises to tackle issues with pharmaceutical companies full on to control what is described on his website as the most expensive medicinal costs in the world.

What are your thoughts on Mayor Pete's healthcare proposal?
