WATCH: Maltese sisters perform the hit song ‘You Raise Me Up’ with quite the twist!
These Maltese sisters have a genuine passion for music. Meet Laetitia and Althea Troisi De Menville. Laetitia, a harpist, posted a video of her playing the harp, accompanying her mezzosoprano sister, Althea, to her Facebook page.
Speaking to Althea, she told me all about this performance and their love of music. “Laetitia has begun performing at weddings and other services as both a soloist and accompanying other singers and instrumentalists.” Althea, on the other hand, is the vocal part of the sister duo. “I’m currently reading for a Bachelor in Vocal Music in Latvia and I’ve just finished my first season at the Latvian National Opera."
“The choice of song is a funny story and actually started off as a joke while I was cooking risotto,” Althea says. Of course, all good ideas come when food is involved! “Our cousin had a baby girl a few years ago, and she would sing You Raise Me Up to lull her to sleep. So I suggested that Laetitia should record it and send it to her just for the laughs.” Laetitia, however had other plans. “She said we should record it and upload it online, so we did!”
